As you say viewer, but why @vivant explain about U4 time support?...with this "kind" of support it's so hard consider buying their news products

Yes, I think anyone considering buying any of the new box would need to use a lot of caution, as to date, many promises do not seem to happen, and expensive U4 quads become door stops and cat warmers...such a shame.

Alternate supplier Acemax whom also manufactures hybrid boxes that include DVB-T and S2 have provided many updates and continue to please those that purchased the KI and KII Plus boxes.

The U4 is far from a door stop and if the only reason you're calling it one is because of KODI 17, then you just need to do some reading. There are work arounds for KODI 17 on older android versions. Look here: http://bestforkodi.com/run-kodi-17-0-on ... -4-device/

I have both the U4 and U5. The U5 is completely worth the purchase. There really is no reason to update the U4 at this time. All the functions are fine and it's running well.

I deleted Kodi from the box some time ago.....why do I need an upgrade? Because many new apps and others that may come along rely on higher android versions than v4. Is it a sin to expect improvement on existing firmware etc from a manufacturer?

There might be a "Workaround" for Kodi 17.... However the support for HTML5, the new web standard for video is not supported in Andriod versions older than 5.1". Period. End of story... End of book....
So Kodi might get installed, But there will be no HTML5 video run on it because the Droid OS does not support it!

They should have one update to Android 5.1. Then people can install Kodi on their own. These guys do not need to update Kodi. Just the android version.

Also been testing the U4 for two years now on satellite.... The U4 will not get 4k in the popular formats as advertised. It will not play 4.2.2. format in spite of the chip being so powerful. Playing 4.2.2. should of been an easy fix. All they had to do was use VLC Player as default media player. But No.

With that kind of support, who needs the U5? Just my humble opinion.... Have a great day!

Good on you Digitaldan, you hit the nail right on the head, exposing the weakness shown in not supporting new android versions.

Mine has now been packed away in favour of my KII Plus hybrid DVB-2/S2 unit, that chirps away nicely, throwing new things on it, and it has been well supported in not only android firmware, but also has the ability to run LibreElec on it etc.

Such a shame that a box that came out looking to be the next best manufacturer, with a support site, has merely washed itself down the same toilet bowl that the cheapo boxes have gone to on many occasions.

I just wonder if anyone really cares anymore at the manufacturing cliff face, or are their heads such well wrapped in implementing their new model, that they forget their old customers, and in the same breath, lose new one's, knowing their support on the old box has dribbled to zero?
