Some questions on U5PVR before buying

Post by Provider » Fri May 26, 2017 1:30 am

Hi!

Thinking about buying this box and want to ask some questions about my method of using this device.
I need only DVB-C tuner so as stated on https://im.gg/images/sN.jpg I select number 5.
1. Is DVB-T2(Cable) + DVB-T2(Cable) mean DVB-T2/T/C+DVB-T2/T/C so I get 2 DVB-C tuners?
2. Is this box has loop through and I don't need use splitter for coaxial cable to split DVB-C signal to box and to TV?
3. Does this box support non-english EPGs? Russian letters or arabic or chinese for example.
4. I see SmartCard support, for now my cable provider doesn't have paid channels, all channels are open, but if my cable provider adds paid channels what encoding (Conax and etc) will be supported this SmartCard feature?
5. Can this box do manual record programming setup, not from EPG?
6. Can this box do PVR from standby mode? What I need: setup to record program by timer, put box in standby mode, in time box power on itself, record the program and turn off to standby mode again.
7. Can this box do PVR in background mode? For example if I running some app, or watching Youtube and it's time for programmed record, will the box start recording in background?

Sorry for too much questions and bad English, it's not my native language.

==> DVB T2/T/C Twin : DVB T2, DVB T, DVB-C all in one.

2. Is this box has loop through and I don't need use splitter for coaxial cable to split DVB-C signal to box and to TV?
==> Dual T2 model had loop through.

3. Does this box support non-english EPGs? Russian letters or arabic or chinese for example.
==> Yes, I think so. we already sold out to Chinese and we tested with Rusian Language and tested with Arabic channels
So it must be support. and arabic too.

4. I see SmartCard support, for now my cable provider doesn't have paid channels, all channels are open, but if my cable provider adds paid channels what encoding (Conax and etc) will be supported this SmartCard feature?
==> This box can support OSCAM. so basically OSCAM can support various CAS like Conax/Viaccess/Nagra/DRE.... etc.
5. Can this box do manual record programming setup, not from EPG?
==> Sure.

6. Can this box do PVR from standby mode? What I need: setup to record program by timer, put box in standby mode, in time box power on itself, record the program and turn off to standby mode again.
==> We have 2 different power mode.
1. Standby mode : Yes, Timer function will work with recording feature.
2. Power save mode : It can't record on power save mode.

7. Can this box do PVR in background mode? For example if I running some app, or watching Youtube and it's time for programmed record, will the box start recording in background?
==> Yes, you are right, if you buy T2 twin model, you can watch 1 channel and 1 channel recording at same time.
of course, you can record channel and do other things like watching Youtube.

Sorry for too much questions and bad English, it's not my native language.
==> It is no problem. English is not my native language. but it is enough to understand you
Thanks for your questions and hope to buy and enjoy with box.

If I can ask if Stab motorized parabels are handled well by the U5PVR? Multistream channels are tunable?, Oscam also works on digital terrestrial channels? thank you.

yes multistream works fine as long you are on the same satellite for both channels.

CONS / Bugs
http://developers.blognotions.com/2017/ ... ve-tv-app/
Android TV limitations: Play Store can only find a few apps (workaround: apkpure), clicks with air mouse not always working
Kodi is currently not well supported
Problems with USB 3.0 port. HDD partitions cannot be mounted, and device may not boot at all.
Audio – TrueHD / Atmos down-mixing is not working, Vorbis audio not supported with Media Center app
Video – IFO/VOB files (DVD rips) cannot be played in Media Center app
Live TV app – Manual recording does not always start; recording from standby mode not working (minor).
No DRM support at all
Underwhelming WiFi performance
Steep learning curve to make use of all features, nothing is explained in user guide, so spending time reading in the forums or G+ to learn is probably a must.
Have these problems been resolved?.
